★★ INTERNAL COMPUTER CLEANING ★★

◙ Be smart and take it to a computer repair shop. If you make one slip and knock a chip loose or accidentally unplug a cable your computer will stop working. The circuit boards are very brittle. Press too hard on one and you are done!

◙ A few tips for the future.

◙ Keep it up on a table off of the floor. When you walk around the room your feet stir up dust on the floor and the power supply fan sucks it right into the computer. Always keep your computer room as clean as possible. Do not put something over the power supply fan hole to keep out the dust. This will overheat your computer.

◙ If you have floppy drives and/or cd/dvd drives go to your local office supply store and get cleaning kits for them. They aren't very high priced and will save you tons of problems with disk errors.

◙ Do not store floppy disks in the direct sunlight. They are made of the same material photo film is made of. This will warp the disk out of shape. Never put them near a heat vent either.

I think it is very important that you do NOT use a normal household vaccuum cleaner inside a computer. Reason: quantities of dust being sucked up an ungrounded plastic pipe is like a Vandegraff static electricity generator and can throw an amazing arc right to your motherboard, frying it. If you really have to clean inside a tower I would use compressed air and take it out on the back deck first. There should be no electromagnetic fields in a couputer when it is unplugged.

I would use the canned air to blast the dust loose, especially on the fans. use a handheld dustbuster type vacuum to catch the dust. don't poke a household vacuum inside the case. you can carefully turn it upside down to let some of the dust or debrit fall out, but don't try to shake vigorously.

You can get the majority of the dust out if you use a dry rag and rub lightly. For the rest of the dust I recommend that you use canned air and make sure that you are out side because it is going to blow a lot of just out of your PC. You can get canned air at any electronic store or you can buy it on line I have attached a link.
