I know the best way is to have an ultrasound but that is not for another 3 weeks i was wondering if anyone else had any old wives tales that they had tried and been proven right on.

Hello. I am also pregnant with my 3rd, and we really want a girl and i just cant wait for a ultrasound. Which that is basically the only way you can get to see what you are having UNTIL .... well I get subscriptions for American baby, baby talk, and Parenting. And they have in there a AT HOME test you can take to show what you are having. I was shocked, and like.. are you serious? I didn't order it yet, and thinking about it. Right now I'm going crazy trying to find it in these books I have. i just wanted to let you know they have something like that and maybe it can be looked up on yahoo search engine. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
There are tons of 'wives tales' out there that supposedly help you determine the sex of your baby. I would take these with a grain of salt. There is really no 100% sure way to know what you are having until you deliver.
Most of the time, at the 20 week ultrasound they can determine the sex, but sometimes even these are incorrect.
I know it's hard, but be patient. Before long, you'll know. :)

there are a bunch of old wives tales on how to tell! I dont think I would bet on them to go buy nursery accssories, but an ultrasound would be your best bet or even fetal Photos, they are 3d and might give you a better look! GOOD LUCK!!!
You can Google or YAHOO search old wives tales and pregnancy! You should get some interesting info!

This might sound kinda weird but in the past my family has always did the ring check. You get a gold ring and tie it to some string and have someone hang it over your belly approx 1 inch above really still and if the ring goes in a circle it is a girl and if the ring sways back and forth its a boy. It has worked with all of our family members it has never been wrong. Try it and you will be amazed how accurate it is.

I take it from you question that you'd prefer a girl this time round?
What happens if it's another boy, will you love him any less? Of course you won't, but the point I'm trying to make here, without sounding to offensive, is that, would it make a great deal of difference whatever the sex of your newborn baby is?
Personally if I was in your situation, I'd prefer the element of surprise. If you're expecting another boy this time, will you keep trying for a girl until you succeed? I know of this local Mother who was in the same predicament as yourself, she had 3 existing boys and kept trying for that elusive girl, it never came, now she has five sons of varying ages.
Anyway, best of luck, hope whatever the sex, it's fit and healthy.

I am the opposite to you, i am also pregnant with my 3rd. But i have 2 girls and really would love a boy now! But i guess like me you will have to wait for your ultra sound. I did the 'Ring on a string test' on my last pregnancy and it said i was having a boy, but i had a girl. I think ultra sound is the only way to find out. good luck !

old wives tales, if the bump is lower down is a girl if the bumps are high up its a bump, im sure you'll notice the difference since you had to boys, at your boys time was your bump more up? its work for both my time, at girls time bump was down,no one hardly knew i was pregnant until the end of my pregnancy but at boys time it was so up that everyone notice it when i was only few month,good luck to you.

If this is your third child, then you already know that you need an ultrasound. C'mon, you are already are an experienced mama, so you should know the ins and outs of this.

Through ultra sound scan. You can find that is a girl. One thing to add. If it is girl baby- The third girl baby is supposed to be verry verry Lucky. So Good Luck.
