In the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's", where does Holly keep her telephone? Why?

I am about to just purchase the dvd, only to get the answer to the question. I realllly don't want to. Anyone seen it that can answer this?

In her suitcase. Why? I guess in she needed to make a clean get away from her past???
