I plan to start a resale shoe business that will donate its profit to an organization that will help sexually abused children. And wanted to know how I could go about getting people to donate new or their gently used shoes. I have a few ideas of my own. But I would like ideas that will get many people to respond and make them keep responding.

My ideas are:

Have the local high school student councils have a "shoe drive"
Put a full page ad in the local paper
Put a "Donate your old shoes box/stand" at local shoe stores
And Flyers and more Flyers

All suggestions will be appreciated. THANX!

All your ideas are great but taking out an ad might be expensive! Instead, write a 'press release" and send it to the papers

Local Charity Announces Shoe Drive to Benefit Abused Kids

Date, City -- Charityname announced last Tuesday that they are starting a shoe drive to raise money for the benefit of abused children. Says Name, founder of the drive, "We feel this is an innovative and easy way for people to help those in need by getting rid of things they don't need."

Several local shoestores (name them) have agreed to place Shoe Boxes in their stores to allow people to donate their old shoes on site. Says Name, Shoestore owner, "We are proud to be part of this drive, and hope that our customers will participate in this worthy effort'
etc. (you get the idea)

Including a picture of the HS kids with a pile of shoes would be a great idea, if you can get it.

And make sure you get actual quotes and approval from any people/businesses involved in the release :)

Oh, and you might also want to try to contact shoe and sneaker manufacturers and see if they can donate 'seconds' or returned items directly to your cause - or maybe they have a grant or CSR (corporate social responsibility) program in place that you can apply for funds directly also.

Good luck!
