I'd appreciate any advice on what I should be looking for, and what I should avoid.

Look for someone you will feel comfortable with having your first expierence with. Look for someone who will be patient and not pushy. Someone that will understand if its not the right thing for you.Its natural for you to want to try it. Just have fun with it and let the other person know not to expect anything out of it until you know for sure that thats what you want.

Worthwhile attributes are the same in all people: honesty, consideration, patience, respect. Someone who can accept you in your situation & place in life with humor & friendship - probably an older person who has worked out some of their own issues & knows where they are with things.

You would be surprised how common Bisexuality is .I bet you know several already and don't even realize it. Also I don't think a plunger is used as a general rule, but hey ,whatever turns your crank.

Avoid girls who just came out of the closet. Find a woman who is openly gay & who isn't afraid to introduce you as her girlfriend. If someone is ashaimed of themselves, they will be ashaimed of you.

look for enthusiasm, patience, determination to find high mimded people, most of those out there are very stupid.
