human sacrifice? This was one of the reasons the Catholic church thought it was okay to enslave the native peoples of the Americas during Spanish colonization. Makes no sense to me

The catholic church decreed that those native Americans who did not convert to Christianity and insisted on remaining faithful to thir savage beliefs, could and would become slaves to the Christians.

Other than Jesus sacrificing himself, what other incident of human sacrifice are you referring to?

The Spaniards used religion to subjugate the people of the Americas & this has nothing to do with religious teachings.

Christianity is not based on human sacrifice. In the Old Testament, in order to repent for your sins you had to sacrifice animals. However, when Jesus died on the cross, he took away the need for that, he took all the punishment for our sins.

The Catholic Church has nothing to do with Christianity. Just because a group of immoral, corrupt leaders decree that the will of God is that they enslave the pagan masses, that does not mean that God says it is OK.

In regards to tiggerluv, it is no dark secret that many holidays coincide with pagan holidays. Early Christians did this so that they could blend in and not be persecuted for gathering toghether. They also did it so that they could remove themselves from the pagan practices.

Paganism includes somewhat some religions. It replaced into often the South American ones that had human sacrifice. very few human sacrifices ever occured in Europe and the midsection East. My faith in no way harmed every person in over 8000 years. Wicca is barely 60 years previous and clearly can not have harmed every person in this style of couple of minutes. on the different hand, the Christians killed tens of millions of human beings of their 1700 12 months historic previous. not purely some remoted circumstances, yet in hundreds of circumstances which in touch intense score Bishops or perhaps Popes. Pagan religions (excepting the South American ones) are somewhat non violent whilst in comparison with Christianity. thoughts of human sacrifice by making use of Pagans at the instant are not something extra desirable than Christian tries to opposite the fact... so which you would be able to stop annoying approximately that, and take a huge step in the appropriate course by making use of becoming Wiccan. Christianity values the life of the individual , which is why God forbids human sacrifice. Jesus was killed on the cross as a criminal punishment of the times--no one put Him up there as a sacrifice to God. Since He had not committed any crimes or sins, He took the punishment for our sins.
Enslaving native peoples ha nothing to do with Christianity's views on human sacrifice--I just don't see the connection there.

I'm not sure how people will react to this, but Christianity has stemmed from paganisitic views. there are several differences, and when Jesus was crucified, Pilate decided to go with the Jews because of the large number of followers. If you delve deeper into pagan rites and rituals, you will find that some of christian rituals actually coincide with pagan holidays.

I think you have your history a little confused.

The tradition of human sacrifice was more common in Old Testament times.

Perhaps you are one of those people that confuses old and new testament and doesn't make a distinction about anything older than two weeks ago.

Actually most pagan religions burned effigies to appease the goddesses or gods until some moron got it into his head to burn living people instead, in order to control more people through terror.
