Well in Scotland it's absolutely brrrrrrrilliant at the moment as we've just beaten France 1-0 in the soccer!!!
In truth, the weather is not particularly great, the government in this country is a joke, plenty of beauty in Great Britain though, so much history for you to see and read about plus I happen to think that we have amongst the most beautiful scenery in the world. If I'm honest, the two things I'd change about Great Britain is the weather and also, I wish that we were more laid-back, everything appears to be too rushed in this country.
Overall if you are considering visiting then I would say you should, as I am sure you would love it. Just make sure you wrap up warm!!

God, looking at some of those answers makes me embarrassed to be from the UK. If they're not moaning about the weather, they're ranting about it "not being good anymore because no one is from the UK". Get a life people! If you don't like it here, please leave, we'd be better off without you...and I mean that wholeheartedly.
In answer to your question, the UK is a great place to live - our weather could be better (especially between November and April), but there are many great things about our country. The scenery is lovely, the (majority of) people are friendly and welcoming and although our government leaves a lot to be desired, we have a thriving economy.
The average wage is high, but unfortunately so are the prices of houses. We have a national health service that is still free (mostly) for UK citizens - even if it does leave a lot to be desired. Our crime rates are reasonable but could be better. However with services, we are better off in many ways in comparison to the rest of europe.
We also live in a thriving and welcoming multicultural society - but you wouldn't think so if you looked at some of the ridiculously bigotted questions that keep cropping up on this website. What these people forget is that the a large portion of our income as a country comes from tourism - their verbal diahorrea is shooting us in the foot.
In a nutshell, the UK offers a lot (which is one of the reasons we're having a few problems with the levels of immigration) and is definitely a great place to live...but the weather leaves a lot to be desired and like everywhere we have our minor problems.

As an Irishman who has lived here since 1958 ,if you learn to fit in with the community and are willing to work for a living not claim benefits. This is a great Country ,just be thank full for their friendship and you will enjoy living here.
You will find the odd comment about immigrants but that only a few people who only read the SUN newspaper. The majority are very nice people.

I think your answer is amongst all of the replies here. The United Kingdom is beautiful in places with wonderfully varied weather conditions. Us Brits however, almost always have something to complain about! Maybe you should come and visit and see what you think?

believe me, you do not want to come here, the weather is bad all year round, I don't live in the United Kingdom, but in Northern Ireland, and it rained all summer, it's the last place on earth you would want to come to, try somewhere nice, like Italy

Not so good since the foreigners came over. I swear British people are gonna be the minority soon, it's a farce. And as for the weather... I think it's great to have a reasonable amount of naff weather because you appreciate your summer holiday so much more!

Its not as nice as what you may have seen portrayed, We are going to reach crisis point before long here, Foreigners are taking the jobs because they will work for less, we can't afford to work for less because we have massive mortgages and finance to payback!! Nope it's not a nice place and will be alot worse shortly.

Well, it's now autumn, so it's getting colder. Life's ok here, although the Labour government are annoying.
