1. Oakland A's vs St. Louis Cardinals

The A's really impressed against Minnesota, and it looks like Detroit might take the Yankees. The A's are much more patient hitters than the Yankees and are all about making contact, which is exactly how you beat fastball pitchers. (Verlander and Bonderman) Let the pitcher do the work for you. Rogers has always done well against Oakland (21-7 lifetime, 2-0 in 2006) and even better when pitching IN Oakland, whether it was for or against the A's.

I think this should be the best matchup in terms of competiveness in the entire MLB playoffs, and Oakland takes it in Detroit in 5.

St. Louis has looked much more like a playoff team than a team that ended the season badly. The Padres were the hottest team coming into the NLDS and the Cards have handled them. They match up against the Mets and Dodgers well.

2. Oakland in 6 because they have more depth in their pitching rotation and the slightly better offense.
