Goes well with a maroon shirt? I'm going to a wedding.

Well, white would look pretty sharp.
Black..not so much (esp. if the maroon is really dark)
Red, yellow, green, navy, ect...stay away from those colors.
Which leaves a nice crisp white. It will look really good!*

I had a woman help me pick out a tie for a burgandy shirt I bought. Go with a similar but slightly lighter solid-color tie. Bring the shirt with you to lay a tie on it to see the contrast.
White does not do with maroon.

Gray with black and silver. If you can find one that also has a lighter or darker shade of the maroon (I prefer to call it Merlot ;-)) all the better. You will look very pulled together. Don't forget to loosen the tie and partially roll the sleeves later in the evening when people are hitting the dance floor.

It depends on the color of the suit. DO NOT wear white. Although it will stand out, if youre not wearing anything else white, it will look out of place. I think the best choice would be tone on tone. Pick a silk tie in the same color as your shirt. That always looks good!

try a cream-colored tie. it will look clean and crisp without contrasting to much. white is not warm enough to wear with a maroon shirt.

a soft pink
grey
a stripped tie with maroon and other colors
black
i would go with some design with cream , maroon, pink, etc.

Only way to be sure: take it to store and lay ties on it to pick what suits your particular style....laid back or wild and adventurous? Ties make a huge statement, or not. Same shade in silk is a safe bet. If you can find one with same color and sand/tan, that may work. Pick something that looks good and hope you don't have to wear it for long. ;-)

take the shirt with you to any department store (Macy's) and try all the ties that got a small touch of maroon.

I think a platinum or gray type, and or a blue but navy not royal. Good luck with that. If u look anything like you're aviator i wouldn't worry about because your going to look good anyway!

i still say - go by the old standby and stick w/ black - black goes with everything.
or like someone else said - take the shirt w/ you shopping.
no white though - that is a fashion no-no
