No one wants to pay for the rising costs of CDs/DVDs...or they just dont want to download the song LEGALLY from itunes or some other place like that. Plus, its become so accessible that pretty much everyone can do it. Unfair for all the bands out there, but hey thats life.

Do you have any idea how many times I've bought Dark Side of the Moon? I'll tell you......the original vinyl back in '73.............an improved vinyl version in the early '80's...............the first CD issue of it.............and then the remastered CD......so that's 4 times I've bought one album!(Now, of course, it's available as a 5.1 mix.....so I guess it's gonna be 5!) And that's just one example.....there are many albums I've bought more than once, or even twice. I reckon down the years the record companies have had enough of my money...... I know they'd like more, but....what's the phrase I'm looking for? One Yahoo won't let me type......

The initial argument is that "no publicity is bad publicity". People think that the bands make money from touring and charging $75 and up for a single ticket or that an actor gets paid several million dollars to make a movie (so why would they need money from box office receipts).
Which, in an altered reality kind of way, makes sense...

Because the record companies charge an unrealistically high amount for CD's, DVD's, Videos and albums.

They claim they have to do this to offset the losses from piracy and illegal downloads.

But if they dropped their prices, people wouldn't need to resort to those measures.

Because it's something to do, you can pick and choose exactly what you want and listen beforehand to see if you like it. Plus some of the DVDs and CDs are so ridicioulsy priced why the hell should we pay so much for them? Not everyone can afford to buy CDs and DVDs.....

Well, if indie bands have no qualms in letting fans download from their sites, then why should mainstream artists make so much noise about it. Lol.

It's the thought that counts. Just don't wanna buy one album for one song and singles are too expensive. XD

I did a speech on this actually. Technically, they end up making more money because if people can hear their songs or watch their movies it makes them interested and a bigger fan so then they want to buy their cd or movie. It also allows them to share it witht their friends so they are interested to.
