Have your kids write the test questions.
For example, in Science or History, have your child write a multiple choice question, a fill-in the blank, and a true-false question for EACH page they read and over which they will be tested. Use matching for vocabulary - 10 vocab words with 12 to 15 possible answers.
By writing the test themselves, they will pay attention to what is important on the page. This works better if they can trade tests with other students in their class. It can become competitive when they try to out-do each other by writing the hardest test.
I think students can do better on tests when they understand the mechanics of how a test is put together.

There are several aspects to test-taking. One is knowing the material, the other, the pressure of test-taking. They may be doing the homework but not retaining or really understanding the material. Memorization of information and formulas helps to get good grades on tests. Practice tests can be done at home to prepare for the real thing.

OK fist you should give him a prize for every good test grade h brings home. Second find work sheets for math, science, etc. and tell him that is a test (that way you can find what he is doing wrong). And finally teach hi and order of doing stuff, example: tell him to start from ,2 and so on. And finally don't put any pressure on him that's the biggest mistake
