Actually in the very first season, that's what they did. There was some sticky substance that came from something that grew there. They made a big batch of it & fixed every hole & loose plank on the Minnow. They had a ceremony right before they were about to leave the island, & the glue started to become unstuck, only not just in one or two places: because Gilligan had used it all over the boat to make sure it was seaworthy, it dissolved the existing glue or made the wood expand or somesuchthing so that the entire boat fell apart peice by peice until there was only a mass of planks & debris.

You know..i think they tired..to make a glue to do just that....but it failed....Gilligan saved the day....they sunk in the lagoon...not out in the shipping lanes. That Gilligan..he was the real brains....lol...

if we analyzed all these shows to find reasons why they wouldnt work, then there would be pretty much no tv shows. why mess with gilligans island? it was such a great show. maybe you should just enjoy tv instead
