hey! i have 2 weeks to buy my dress, and i don't know what to do! my complexion is kinda on the dark side, like middle-eastern and indian, and my hair is black. my eyes are the drkest of brown and i want to look awsome! my mom is like "you can't wear a slutty type of dress..." and that means i can't wear a holter top AND mid-thigh-length dress at the same time. PLEASE HELP ME!

It's fall, it sounds like you have a beautiful olive complexion. Show off your exotic side, choose a rich pumpkin or russet tones, a satiny material, and a very simple cut. Something with spaghetti straps at the top and a lot of length. Let the decoration be in the embroidery on the dress.

Something like this:

it comes in different colours; check out this link:

Simple, sexy - and with enough material to please your mom.
Good luck!

I'm medium to dark brown and I look great in black (which is the color I wore to my homecoming), but then again I've gotten complements about my skin tone in pinks, reds, greens, yellows.... The only color that doesn't do well on me are browns and beiges because they mute me and are boring against already brown/beige skin tones. Whatever's bright and stands out would be best. Try a store that specializes in teen fashions as they always have prom and homecoming dresses waiting for you! We have Rave, Strawberry and Deb here in IL, but I don't know what else is out there or in your area, but I'm sure you know. Happy shopping!

most homecoming dresses are about knee length anyway so i dont think youll have to worry about mid-thigh length dresses.

plum colors look really pretty on darker skin. not bright purple, darker shades of purple. its unique too since i didnt see many othe people with purple dresses. but this isnt the only one. go to the store and try different colors on. its only you who can determine whether you think a dress flatters your skin tone.

heres one thats not a halter top, but i think the cut is nice.

White would look amazing. Get the halter and go for a length that is around mid-calf.

dark skin, sultry black eyes? hmm gal, i say u go wiv the salma hayek look-don't know about th bright colours-they'll make u look classless and slutty. So i suggest u go for deep sensual colours like maroon, dark olive, navy blue in sensual silky fabric- check out this dress from david's bridals'- m wearing it for my homecoming but it wouldnt matter if u got it caz we dont live in the same area-i think the peridot would look gorgeous on you! good luck!

Maybe a red dress or blue. I think those are good colors for dresses.

an orange-with pink glimmer looks real good on tanned skinned people.
