I have tried diferent ways, and the only thing that divides this is 4
but I am not sure what happens to the extra 1

76 = 2 x 2 x 19. 1 is not a prime number. 19 is a prime number.

What extra 1? And if you divided 76 by 4, what was the result? Was that a prime. What are the prime factors of 4?

To get the prime factors (thats what you want here) of any number, just start by dividing the number by 2 as many times as it will go, then 3, etc. For example, find the factors of 780

780 / 2 = 390
390 / 2 = 195
195 / 2 --- doesnt go.
195 / 3 = 65
65 / 3 --- doesn't go
65 /4 --- doesn't go
65/5 = 13
13 / 6 -- doesn't go, etc.
13 / 13 = 1
The factors are 2*2*3*5*13
