well first case 1)its just a movie clip that ur watchin
then it takes normally 2-20mb depending on the quality of the video
2)ur watchin an entire movie
then it takes normally 250-700mb per session that is 60min
all the above are approximations by the way u dont need to bother about it coz it will be cleared when u restart ur computer coz normally these things are stored in temporary file which are destroyed when the playin is done or the computer is restarted have a nice day hope i have cleared ur doubt

if you download an MP4 file for a player like the psp, a reasonable quality file can be as small as 250 - 300 MB for a 2.5 hour film. I have fight club (I converted it from my own DVD though) which is a better than VHS image and 128 kbps sound.

If you're thinking of making one available to the others, it will be a factor of the movies file size and the number of people downloading it. So if they access it trough your connection:

Bandwidth = MovieFileSize * NumberOfViewers

NumberOfViewers is obviously not easily predictable but could be limited by programming your page to block access to it after a specified number of views.

It depends on if you download the file or view streaming data, The latter requires no storage of the file, only RAM & CPU power.Downloading of coarse commits storage resources (Hard Drive Space) to the file. Some video content can be in the gigabytes!
