I'll recommend Palm mainly because they have about 5x the software (20,000+ compared to 3000+) which makes a big difference in how you use and customize your device.

Palm OS is simple out the box and not as robust as Windows Pocket but "launcher" and "system management" programs like Zlauncher add file management, navigation and program launching capability that outdo WinP.

Windows Pocket on the other hand is automatically "familiar" because of Billy's widespread popularity. They have a good asortment of programs many ports of desktop versions. One thing is the freezing and locking up will also be familiar to users of WinX O/S's. Featurewise the hardware for both platforms are nearly the same so it all comes down to preference and style.

Other than scan/read business cards the requirement is quite light; check out all of Palm's current offerings. All PDA Office programs targeted opening MS Office files so don't you worry.

A Tungsten T3 (discontinued by about a year) may have all of what you want, WiFi and business cards are options as SD card and connector module. I am not aware who is still making biz card scanners but don't try to use a camera to act as alternatives unless you can focus the optics.

I have owned a Palm E2 and now a Dell Axim. I prefer the Dell with WM 5.0. I had problems syncing the Palm between two computers (Home and work). The Dell works great.

As for more software, just because there's more, doesn't mean better.

I don't see myself going with Palm again.
