Cyrus was born in Franklin, Tennessee,[1] which is in the Nashville metropolitan area, and went to Heritage Middle School. She is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia "Tish" Cyrus (née Finley),[1] and the granddaughter of the late Ron Cyrus and Ruth Ann Cyrus. She has an older brother, Trace; a younger brother, Braison; a younger sister, Noah Lindsey, an older sister Brandi; an older half-brother, Christopher; and a dog named Loco.[2] She is a middle child of five. She was named Destiny Hope because her parents thought that she would accomplish great things.[1] Her nickname, Miley (from "Smiley"), was started because she wouldn't stop smiling when she was a toddler.[1]
Cyrus became interested in acting while on the set of her father's television series Doc, where she played a character named Kylie. In 2003, she played young Ruthie on Tim Burton's Big Fish and was credited as Destiny Cyrus. She was also featured in Rhonda Vincent's music video for "If Heartaches Have Wings", and appeared on Country Colgate Showdown with her father who was the host of the television program.
Cyrus was only eleven years old when she auditioned for Disney, thus Disney Channel executives redeemed her as "too small." However, they could not find another girl who could sing and act. Having the likeness of Hilary Duff and stage presence of Shania Twain, Cyrus got the part[3]. According to Disney Channel Executive Vice President Gary Marsh, Cyrus was chosen for Hannah Montana because of her energetic and lively performance and was seen as a person who "loves every minute of life."[4]
Cyrus owns a Daisy Rock Guitar, given to her by her parents Billy Ray and Leticia, from a Country Music Television fan meet-and-greet.
On June 22, 2006, Cyrus performed a Hannah Montana concert at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She is currently opening for The Cheetah Girls for 20 dates of their 40-city tour.[5]
On October 24, 2006, Walt Disney Records will release the Hannah Montana soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Series Hannah Montana. The soundtrack is expected to include the songs Cyrus performed as Hannah Montana. Cyrus also signed a four-album major record deal with Hollywood Records.[4] It is unconfirmed whether or not the Hannah Montana soundtrack is part of this deal.
Cyrus is good friends with fellow Disney Channel actresses Emily Osment,[6] Ashley Tisdale,[citation needed] and Spencer Locke.[citation needed]
Cyrus counts Kelly Clarkson as her favorite musician, Sandra Bullock as her favorite actor, Laguna Beach as her favorite show, Steel Magnolias as her favorite movie, and Don't Die, My Love by Lurlene McDaniel as her favorite book.[

She is an actress/singer who has been accused of lip syncing. He is on the Show Hannah Montana where she plays Miley Stewart...a girl who has another identity as the famous Hannah Montana. She is currently on tour with the Cheatah Girls and preforms as Hannah Montana.
