I am nineteen years old and I am so tired of being mistaken for 12. People always ask me if I am in high school yet, and things like that. I know act my age and am responsible, etc.. but it is so frustrating to be treated like a child when I am an adult. This usually only happens to me with people I dont know. Is there any way I can present myself that will help? I am on the shorter side, and I wear make up and everything. Is there some thins( like hairstyle, make up, fashions, ect.. that I can try that would help? I like to look like myself, natural looking make up, styles I like, but am willing to try or make a few changes.

no offense but take it as a compliment. it's better than people thinking you're 30, right?? and when you are 30, you'll look 20.

I am also mistaken for another age an I can't do anything. I feel weird when i go to the store and end up buying something that is OK but that doesn't suit my style and way of being because they don't have my size. It think that u should try dressing more grown up even if u don't like it. Most importantly be YOURSELF. Have some fun. you're still young. enjoy life. don't really worry about what other people think. Oh, and i think make-up will just make you look like a little 12 year-old(no offense) who doesn't know what she is doing.

Any hair style that looks professional and give you lift or a high style. Also make sure your make up looks grown up. Don't use too much and make it natural.
Use shoes with heights and wear clothes that are more professional. If you dress in the style of teens you will mistaken as a pre-teen because you are small and look young.
Act as grown up as possible. That means your body language, and voice. People will ge the picture real fast.
Also when you are my age it will be nothing but a blessing so a little heartach now will give you years of happiness when you get 30.

I am 23 years old and I get mistaken for 15. I feel your pain. I CONSTANTLY get ID'ed for everything, sometimes double ID'ed. I used to try wearing more make-up, but that just made me look like I was younger TRYING to look older, not ACTUALLY older. Enjoy it because you WILL appreciate it when you get older. I enjoy it even now - It's amusing seeing peoples reaction when they find out your real age. And believe me, your friends are probably jealous. Mine openly admit they are. So be happy with yourself!! I know it's easier said than done, because like I've said, I've been through and still am in the same situation. Work what you have, girl!

Ooh so you wanna grow up? Why? Just think, when you are 40, you'l loo k 30!!!

This happens with my elder sis too, especially when the two of us are together.

We were once going somewhere by train, and this lady with his teenage son is sitting in front of us, and asks me, where I work, and I replied, I am a student in this this engg.college. And she pumped me for detailson how her son should prepare for it, and what branch is better, blah blah. And once its all over, she turns to my sister( A MBBS doctor at that time specializing in ophthalmology) and says, and you dear, which grade are you in? Which school do you go to?

My sis was annoyed and coldly told her she was a doctor, and that women was shocked. I look the elder of us two. And I found it really funny, although my sis didn't like it at that time, but we do laugh whenevr I tell this story to anyone.

What kind of clothes do you wear?

Are they things that you can find in Limited Too or something? If they are, you'd probably want to change that. Also, you could try shopping at A&F, Hollister, and Nordstrom's.

Also, keep in mind that shorter hair makes people look older than their age.

I hope that helps. I'll try to find some more things and I'll post it on here!

Im in the exact same position as you. Once I was clubbing and this bouncer told me I couldnt go in cause I looked 12! I was pissed but got over it. Most people think I'm like 15ish. Nobody says I look my age. Its all good though. Enjoy it. Picture this... you're 35 and people think you're 20. fabulous dont you think? Besides who cares if they think you're 12 cause you got ID to prove it! Embrace it
