North America is often divided into subregions but no universally agreed upon divisions exist. Central America comprises the southern portion of the continent, but its northern terminus varies between sources. The United Nations includes Mexico in Central America, while other definitions of the region do not, e.g., the European Union excludes Belize and Mexico from the area. The term Middle America is sometimes used to refer to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean collectively.

If you wanted a YES or NO answer... sorry, I can't give you one.

bbbtssssssh... who ever came up with this "Central" America business anyway???... when I was in grade school (not that long ago) it was always just North America and South America.

Central America to my knowledge has never been considered a "continent" all of its own. North America extends to the southern border of Panama and South America is everything south of that! Central America is just more of a tourism/backpackers catch phrase that caught on in the mainstream at some point.

Just how fragmented does everyone want to make this world anyway?? its petty disagreements like this that cause wars. If I must be pressed for an answer though, Mexico is part of North America by way of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement to which Canada, the USA and Mexico are members).

End of story--or at least it should be.

No it is not,it is in North America.
Central America is a region, not a continent. It begins south of Mexico and all of the land area is an isthmus that connects North and South America.

Mexico is NOT part of Central America. It's North America. Now, it is considered "Latin America" because of it speaking Spanish. Canada and the USA are Anglo-Saxon, because they speak English. Keep in mind these are more the English and Spanish boundaries are cultural boundaries.
