It can be composted or recycled. Also people with gerbils and some other pets can use it. Cats use it when they have infections in their paws. You might call a vet or a cat shelter to donate.

Most office documents are best destroyed after their use, for security purposes. Documents, secret papers, which can be used against the firm if they go in the wrong hands. Things like ATM receipts, bank statements, credit cards and charge bills, birth certificate copies, cancelled and voided checks etc. which are confidential, have to be shredded. Important papers like passport and visa copies, documents containing PIN numbers and passwords, tax forms etc can also be shredded.
People use paper shredders that are conveniently located. The "perfect shredder" in a location that is not convenient will not be used as much as it should.
When a shredder stops, shredding stops. The proper paper shredder does not jam frequently, overheat or require frequent emptying. A business reality is that shredding stops for reasons as basic as a full bag. Rather than emptying or changing bags, people will re-evaluate the sensitivity of the document and decide it really does not need to be shredded. Shred container capacity can be a critical element in paper shredder usage. Ideally, this container should be emptied only once a day. Second shredders are typically larger than first purchase units. Almost without exception, the second shredder purchased by a company or individual has higher sheet capacity. This is because the amount of paper that needs shredding turns out to be more than expected. This is learned when the paper shredder is overfilled, jammed or otherwise recognized as not up to the actual paper volume.

You want information security and paper shredders provide this only to the extent that they are used. An unused or seldom used paper shredder will not provide the information security you need.

Anyone with a composter would be glad of it if you do not have any recycling facilities near you as it breaks down and is good for organic gardening - otherwise, most large supermarkets have somewhere for recycling or some councils pick it up for you ...

Council recycling units (at least around here) won't take it in recycling bins as it's too difficult to separate from other things.

This is excellent for mulch. Mix with grass clippings and mulch your shrubs etc. Also good insulation...spread it in your attic.
