I agree but it wouldn't be so bad if it was a fair price. also aren't you only paying for a few select channel anyway.

I actually can't get reception where I live - so I have to use Sky. Which means I'm paying £20 a month already. But because I can pick up BBC (albeit fuzzy) on one of my televisions, I have to pay the TV license because I'm no longer exempt.

Its just feckin ridiculous! Don't we pay enough already?? What about those that don't even watch the BBC? (its not exactly packed with quality television is it? Unless of course you like hospital dramas and slit-your-wrists soaps)

Its a disgrace...especially as we're about 5 years behind the rest of the world with terrestrial HD too.

no i don't.

tv licences are supposed to be for the privilege of watching bbc.

i have sky...i pay £42 per month..and yet on top of that i have to pay £35 per quarter for a tv licence for two channels...that's simply outrageous.

and to be honest...i can't even remember the last time i watched bbc1 or bbc2. i'll admit it's better to watch tv with no adverts....but to save £140 odd quid a year, i'm sure i could grin and bear them!

i also think it's outrageous that it's an offence not to have a licence. you can be fined £1000.

people have the choice whether they want to have any more channels...and they can then choose which ones they want to pay for. so for it to be compulsory to pay for bbc1 and bbc2, whether you want to watch them or not, is unfair. what's the monopolies commission stance on this???

one of my friends does not agree with the whole concept of television. that's her choice and she has the right to it.
however, the amount of arguments she's had with the tv detector people who come round in their vans and tell her that they don't believe she doesn't have a tv and give her grief for not having a licence...it's unbelievable!

What's that all about with you fine British folk?

I'm sure glad there is nothing like that in the States.

We need TV to stay ahead of the rest of the world on the

stupidity curve.A license would fop everything right up!

I think the TV licence fee will eventually be withdrawn. It is no longer relevant in todays world of communications. Personnaly I wonder if it is even lawful. I'd rather watch the ads and keep my money. Ads are good for toilet breaks anyway.

It is a rip off, but instead of having to buy a licence, I think we should be obtaing a Medical Card to watch TV with all of the Hospital Drama's that are on

Yes. In amongst the dross (you find on any channel) are many superb productions and all without any ad. breaks. How annoying are they in the middle of a Grand Prix or good football match?
You also get the BBC website, which is absolutely huge and valued by people all over the world.

This argument has been going on since licenses were 7s 6d
Personally I cannot see why the BBC cannot have adverts at the end of a programme without breaking into a programme? they advertise their stuff anyway so, if you put up with that ...

No not with the crap that's on tv it's supposed to get better in the winter not that there's any evidence of that yet.I'd rather watch cable if you pay for cable you shouldn't have to pay for a license.

Tv is now a load of rubbish...have just got rid of sky subscription at over £40. Now on freeview - nothing but quizz programmes on it - rubbish as well.
