You can purchase the little rubber beaded looking mat in wal-mart in the dish department used for lining cabinets. Cut small pieces to fit under the legs or feet of your furniture. This will prevent sliding and protect your floors all for less than $3.

You can purchase small, round, rubber "canisters". They can be found at your local home supply store. Put one under each foot/leg of your furniture. It will keep them from sliding and also protect the wood floor.

At your local dollar store, they usually sell the rubber liner for your kitchen drawers. Cut this into the right size to fit under the legs, etc. of your furniture. I used it under the legs of my butcher table in my kitchen. It kept sliding too! The rubber drawer liner solved the problem.

any rubber will help the furniture from sliding around. i cut circles of the rubber dishmat used for cutlery drawers or any latex cut to the size of the furniture piece that you are trying to secure. you can also try cutting a piece of your rug pad that goes underneath area rugs to keep them secure. Once you've selected a rug for hardwoods, usually you buy a pad to go with it. The pads are oversized...keep a portion to cut to size for the furniture feet.

no need to have things slide all of the time!
