Add a wireless adapter- the easiest way is to buy one with a USB connection, so you don't have to open up your computer case.

I needed to do this same thing a couple months ago. You need to have a wireless internet router and a wireless internet modem. The router receives the internet through a broadband connection and then transmits it to wireless modem in your desktop.

You can find the routers and modem at any electronics stores, like a Best Buy.

If the desktop has no wireless hardware device, you can buy
an external device such as USB wireless adapter.
The latest devices are available in IT shops and you install the drivers.
Once installed you have a wireless adapter and can connect to any wireless access point in the area.

I would however caution to use encrypted (SSID) points, install
anti-spyware, update your antivirus and use a good firewall.
All available through downloads free of charge.

Then enjoy browsing.
