It is legal to download, from legal sites and songs that are legal for download. P2P applications do not guarantee that the content can be shared legally or not.

It's illegal sorry bud. I heard a good alternative is Imesh which costs like 2 dollars a month and you can download all you want. I'm not quite sure at how legal this is.

No it is illegal, unless the owner of the song, allows you to use it free of cost. Otherwise you have to pay for the usage.
