We are letting too many assholes into our country that are demanding care and funds that they have not yet deserved. Why doesn't the government step in and stop them even before they get here so we don't have the problems when they arrive and want free handouts?

If the USA and the UK did what France and Germany, etc. do -- and make it impossible to live legally (because everybody has an ID card, and you have to register your address with the City Hall or the Police and tell them when you move) -- and if it were impossible to hire anybody under a phony name.

Then there would be far less immigration fraud. Far fewer people would come, because there would be far fewer loopholes.

But bear in mind why all those illegals come: their agricultural jobs were abolished because of NAFTA. Far from jobs being sucked down to Mexico, they were sucked over to China, and then Mexicans were sucked up to the USA to fill farm jobs. Because American crop subsidies make corn, etc. so much cheaper to buy in the USA that Mexican farmers went BANKRUPT!

Rather than letting their kids starve, they risk death to come to the USA.

And American workers are out of work because globalization means their jobs went to China.

One answer -- for the symtom you complain of -- is a national ID card like the Swiss ones -- forge proof. And serious penalties -- jail time, forfeiture of business -- for anybody who hires somebody without proper ID.

Trouble is, it's "DISCRIMINATION" to ask for positive ID. And not to accept an obvious fake. Everybody "benefits" -- the government gets tax it never has to give credit for -- never has to pay social security benefits for -- the boss man gets cheapo labor -- the worker makes more than he'd make at home and his kids eat.

But wages overall are kept low. Which is exactly the Bush Administration's policy.

But what do I care. I live in Europe, I have positive ID. My country has porous borders but few people come. And even fewer will in future: there was just a national referendum on tightening eliigibility for welfare benefits for illegal "asylum seekers".

Hey: the world is full of poor people. And I do feel bad for them. But the first thint NOT to do is to subsidize CORPORATE FARMERS (and it isn't family farmers who benefit) with PORK so they grow stuff nobody wants that is dumped on world markets (corn, sugar, rice, cotton) and bankrupts poor Mexicans and Africans. To death. Unless they migrate. Why otherwise would they risk such perilous travel?

You must mean those free handouts all the farm laborers and crop pickers get at the end of the day. Are you volunteering to start working the fields ? Oh, yes and all the slaughterhouse work that 'our' countrymen are too wimpy to do. Are you applying for work there ?
What cave have you been living in ?

Yes, it is our government's job. The reason it does not stop this chaos---Very few, if any, of our politicians have the gonads to do what is right but want to think of their political welfare instead. The national ID card required for voting MAY change this.Regardless, if any politician speaks up against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, he is branded a RACIST by the commislamic fascists.

It sure is supposed to be. But since when did they stick to doing their job? We had the same problem back in the 50's, and Ike took care of it by stern action! There is a lack of will, and I believe a concerted effort to undermine the historical underpinings of U.S. society.

It is their job, but unfortunately, like most things they are responsible for, they are lousy at it.
