Always wondered that about him and other superheros... is it a fashion statement? If so, why arent people doing it? I mean they are doing baggy pants, so why not be like superman?

maybe because the author of the first superman had little kids in mind and had problems with his own son. if little boys see a super hero wearing"big boy underwear" then they will give up their pullups and trade them in for whitey tighties
