It was not Tony Blair, it was Jack Straw*. Allegedly he was inviting to inclusion not segregation for the way people dress. In the UK hoodies have been discussed to be prohibited for instance.
The question is debatable. Spain passed a law accepting Muslim women to wear veil in their ID photograph due to the pressure of the Catholic church not to have their nuns unveiled (ironic, isn't it?)
* Jack straw is a New Labour ex-foreign office secretary and current leader of the Commons

I haven't heard this before, but if he did that I think that was a good idea. The men keep their women covered but yet they can do anything they want. I say Take that thing of your head and be proud of who you are. I always have a story when I answer a question, so here it goes. In my daughter school, a few years ago, (elementary school) there was a Muslim woman that always came to school with her husband in front walking with all her garbs. One day she surprised every one in school, (including) the teachers. She came in dress with a normal suit and no head gear. When I saw her, I had to stop and tell her, you are a beautiful woman. I did asked her why the change? She answered she was tired of being ordered around and was getting rid of her husband. Mind you, we all knew in school that he held a high position at Tampa General Hospital, the largest hospital in Tampa.
Well, from that day on this lady was never without a smile on her face or a hello to say. So maybe Tony Blair is smarter than you think.
This is a true story. Peace out my friends!!

I applaud him... it is the first step in their freedom from oppression, and maybe they will finally stand up for themselves and oppose the males in their lives.

If the Muslim women ever stand up for themselves, it will end terrorism. The Muslim men will end their domineering lives, and realize they must become part of society and not oppress people... they will do it if they ever want to get laid again.

Yeah I suppose its OK, as long as we can get the Hip Hop boys down in LA to stop wearing hats, and while we're at it maybe we can ask the Sikhs to stop wearing turbans, oh and I don't really trust people wearing suits, they give the creeps, so maybe we can ban suits and ties too...

...the work of the fashion police is never done.
