Colors this year seem to be deep & rich -- at my daughter's school, they are all over the board -- some of the girls are even wearing pants! I think a good choice might be a single color, swanky above the knee dress, in a shiny type fabric -- raspberry is a really cool color - or navy, hunter green, chocolate brown or a caramel color. That could be very cool, fancy enough, but not to fancy. I don't really think a long hemline would be right -- you could play it safe, and go with a mid-calf length - but heck, you're a kid - I say go for the short and sassy, but playful, not skanky. They seem to be accessorizing with pearls - also anything "romantic" looking --- think accessories as if you just found a pirates treasure - what might you find inside? Simple though, not gaudy. You should stay true to yourself with the makeup -- too much, and you'll look Halloweenish - especially if you don't usually wear the stuff. I would go for a really soft, but striking combination. For example, if you are going with the raspberry colored dress -- I might suggest a gray or tan color eyeshadow on the lid, a darker color version of the same color in the crease of your eye, then perhaps a soft, shiny pink leading up to the eyebrow, and a white or eggshell color right at the brow. You can get a pallette of many colors in one - and the dollar store stuff is just fine. You don't need to pay alot of money for makeup, especially if you don't wear it much. A black mascara - get waterproof -- if you happen to get some in the wrong place, don't rub it off -- take a Q-tip and dab it off with a touch of rubbing alcohol on the tip. (otherwise you have to start all over from the beginning, your eyes get all messed up, you start wiggin' out, your mom freaks 'cuz her little princess is stressin', the dog barks, and suddenly your night gets off on the wrong foot. Phew, I hate that when that happens!) Can this old lady give you a piece of advice for the evening and the rest of your life too......just be yourself. Don't get caught up in the comparisons, don't worry if you have the same dress on as someone else. It doesn't have to be a competition. If you're the only one in a short dress, and everyone else is wearing long -- be brave, be bold, and just be yourself. You are the one your date is taking to the dance, not the dress. If your date wanted to take the dress, well, I'd have to have a chat with his mom. lol. Don't compromise yourself, you could wear a burlap bag and still have a great time if you believe in yourself and you're there to have fun. The night goes so fast, and these are the moments that stand out in a person's life. You don't want those memories frought with worry. Have fun!

First of all, I think it depends on what grade your in. If your a senior then it doesnt matter because you rule that place and if you want to go all out, you can. Otherwise I would wear a formal but not prom dress. Have you ever seen those casual ones? Dont go like youve been in a wedding but find a really cute and pretty dress thats too nice for everday, but not pathetically overdone. Something you can dance in.

Long dresses are reserved for the prom and you can tell by looking at the material. Its kinda hard to describe but i think you know what i mean. It looks silky and stiffer? tts not as flowy. Homecoming is mostly knee length dresses. Strapless, spaghetti strap, halter top are the many differnt kinds. Wearing makeup isnt a bad idea. I dont wear makeup either but for a dressy event i like to because its different from the everyday. plum colors look good with a golden tan. and its a unique color. i didnt see many people at my dance with purple dresses. but its soo pretty.

this is about the amount of dressiness your looking for. im not saying you should get the dress. you can if you want.

No, it is very lovable however very high-priced.. my mom would not purchase a $228 get dressed for a homecoming dance in a GYM. you'll be able to uncover a get dressed that appears an identical at: Forever21 Jessica Mcclintock

whatever u do, don't wear a prom dress. Homecoming is more laid back (at my school anyway).so wear like a cute short dress, wit some heels. Don't wear tan, Keep it simple but sexy. I know macy's have real cute simple dresses. Bloomingdale's should have a sale around this time also.

Well, ask what your friends are wearing, if they're going for prom-dresses or semi-formal dresses or w/e. So you won't be the only one wearing a style. But at my school it's semi-formal, short or straight dresses work best :)

Wear a knee-length dress, in black. get a really pretty one with cute straps (or no straps) and dress it up with heels and jewelry. and also, you don't need a lot of makeup just put on some mascara and liploss!
