LED's without question, but they are pricey at the moment. Right now the way to fly is with flourescent bulbs. Check the package for what light specturm they are to avoid yellowish ones. They make ones which will screw right into an incandesant socket.

The most efficient lighting is inductive lighting. The lamos can last 10 years or longer. It is expensive. The next best option is flourescent. If you use T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts. All ballasts manufactured after 1979 are safe. You can also use compact flourescents in locations where you would use a type A lamps (regular light bulbs).

The best ones are the energy savers. even though they are expensive you can recoup the costs within month or 2 considering the elect charges you save. if u like white light u can ask for cold white or if u like the red light u can ask for warm white. 20 W bulb can give you equi of 75 w. So I have felt. They last for a long time too.

Unfortunately, it's the fluorescent that save the most energy and last the longest. They are a bit slow to warm up to full light, but nice lighting once they do. I have not researched the safety of them and the ballast inside, if they have them. They used to be very toxic, but I don't know about now.

I bought some GE from walmart for 3 for 6.99. They produce 100 watt light for 29 watts power. They are supposed to last for 5 years. I cannot complain. So far, they have reduced my power bill by 15%. (est)

they do take about 2 seconds to warm up to full light, but its a non harsh light.

I am not sure where you live but go to a hardware or household store and read the labels on all their energy efficient light bulbs - read all labels you will be surprised also check on the wattage - this makes a difference in energy levels used!@

The longest lasting , lowest power consumption is the LED lights. CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO BUY.

The most popular power saver is the fluorescent, which also produces great light and burns for a very long time.
ARE VERY AFFORDABLE.
