some aspects of the show are real, and yes they do really hurt themselves. All matches are rehearsed just like anyother show rehearses scenes on other television shows. When using chairs and the what not the wrestlers have to take care to not use too much force and judge the blow to not cause serious injury. Look at Mick Foley in the ECW he misjudged a blow with a cast iron skillet on a bring your own weapon night and gave another wrestler a serious concussion. The WWE knows that they have to protect their investment in the wrestlers and still provide an entertaining show to fans. It is fake, but check out wikipedia if you want to know all about all it.

WWE is storylines and a decided winner, so before the match even starts the wrestlers themselves and the people backstage knows whats going to happen. The match is filled with "spots" wich are predermened what exact moves are going to happen, everything in between is improvised by the wrestlers. The moves are the in ways that the people do not get injured, but they do get hurt. Like the Batista bomb Batista's knees hit the ground before the opponents back wich makes the landing softer and the tombstone by the undertaker his knees hit the ground and not the oppenents head but they do get hurt and walk away with bruises and scrapes because things like falling from the top turnbuckle can't be faked.

Are the stories real? No. of course not; they are scripted.

Is the action and injuries real? some are and some arent'.

Ashley broke her leg in 2 places with a compound fracture. Kurt Angles neck is a mess and Shawn Michaels back will need major surgery and his knees will need to be replaced soon.

Stone Cold Steve Austin broke vertebrae in his neck and Edge also had major neck/back surgury due to neck and spine damage during matches. Droz is paralyzed from the waist down after breaking his neck in a match and forget about all of the broken noses limbs. During a match HHH was out for 8 months when he tore his hamstring (some say from steroid use).

Poor Owen Hart lost his life in the ring from a fall/accident.

The stories aren't true, but any idiot that says the injuries and the athleticism isnt' real, is as clueless as can be.

It would be stupid to say no

When they go out in the ring regardless that they already know whos supposed to win. They do hurt themselves when trying to do some high risk moves or sometimes when another wrestlers does a power move on them to hard. in fact in mexico a wrestler called abismo ***** killed another one using the tombstone move that the undertaker does.

What ever you think about wrestling in whether its fake or not fake one thing its for sure THEY DO HURT THEMSELVES

Yes they really hurt themselves. But, most of it is choreographed in the lockerooms or the night after night matches.
