My boyfriend has had his new border collie for about 3 months and has never bathed him. Can any of you doggy experts tell me how often a dog gets bathed?

You don't bathe collies. That will make their fur mat. A good brushing at least weekly is all they should need.

If it is a working dog, like on a ranch or farm, which is what border collie's were bred for..then dont bathe him/her.

If it is a house or apartment pet...he should have started young to get the dog used to it...Dogs were never meant to be bathed. But in modern society, people have them as house pets, so I would say call pet smart and find out..

I would not bath the dog any more than ince a month, more than that can dry the skin and end up having many problems, if you dont really care for the dog you could bath a lil more just so you can live with it but it will proballly end up with some problems, dogs are not built to bath like people

not very often, for you'll wash away his natural oils and he'll have excess dry skin, which he'll scratch and could cause sores,
