Well,, I have never been a prisoner,, but I AM a corrections officer,, and at work right now.

Daily life,, hmmm lets look around,,, a bunch of loud mouth dirt-bags,, trying to intimidate eachother for a bigger share of ramen noodles and a chance to decide what to watch on the 1 television bolted to the wall in the section. It is loud smelly and BORING,, but in many ways they still have far too good for what they did to get here.

I worked at a prison for about 3 years. Normal routine will vary depending on the security level of the facility. I worked at a minium and a maxium prison..
@the minium the day began at 3am with the kitchen workers going to the kitchen to prepare the breakfast for the other inmates. They eat at 5 am and then they go to their work details. Which ranged from farm details and to laundry details or orderlies that cleaned the dorms in which they lived. They got a sack lunch and and a hot dinner. They had a gym call and a yard call and they got library time. Other than that, they are in the dorms.

I am a prison pastor. It is no place that you want to live. You are told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. there is no freedom. If you get out of line, then you get locked up in detention. They will put you on bread and water. There are fights and riots on a regular basis and people do get murdered. You cannot receive phone calls and you can only make one monitored call per month---if you are good. There is absolutely no privacy. Homosexuality is rampant. I have seen female guards strip search male inmates out in the yard on many occasions. Does this sound like the kind of lifestyle that you would like to involve yourself in on a long term basis?
