A monitor is red+green+blue. If one of these three burns out, the result will be a monitor that only emits colors that are within the range of a combo of the remaining two. If your monitor goes purple to magenta range, or yellow to green range, one of the three color guns is blown. Time for a new monitor, I am afraid.

I had a green screen with a download I tried.
I had to delete it, then the color came back to normal.
Did you reboot?

right click on your desktop click on properties, look at your background and see about changing it.
if this doesnt help you either need to check your video card software (different software requires you to change the color different ways).
if its not that you either need to change your video card or your monitor.
