This allows broadcasters up in the booths a way to know who theplayers are. The numbers make it easy to see and they get the names off the rooster. Numbers are much easier to see than names on there backs.

they r a kind of roll number given to all of the players
each player is given three numbers,which they can use according to their wish

it's not much significant. the numbers are just notification on that day of match, in next match they may be changed. but i am sure that the number choosing is the player's choice.
