Male bettas typically have longer tails and are more colorful. Females have shorter tails and have much less color.

Didn't you just ask this question the other day?

Males have long fins, females have short fins. Color has nothing to do with it. Well conditioned females are colored well also.

Males ONLY fight with other males. But, they will kill the females if the female is not ready to spawn.

They are tropical fish from southeast Asia and need temps in the range of 78-82 degrees all of the time. They also need a filter!

Betta is pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah! Beta (bay-tah) is the second letter of the Greek alphabet.

Change ONLY 25-30% of the water every week in your tank. Your fish will be healthy and happy.

Males have brighter colors than females, but females can be as colorful as the males. Fish store females are often culls so their colors often aren't as beautiful as the males. In general the males have long flowing, or spiky fins. Of course this breaks down if you have a fighting breed. These guys all have shorter fins.

It doesn't matter what color your betta is. The males have long fins, and the females have short ones. You will be able to tell the difference.

Only the males are the pretty colorful ones.

The females are brown, smaller, and unremarkable.
