I do know that time is based around the number 6.
60 secs in a minute
60 mins in a hour
4x6 hours in a day
366 leap year days divides into 6
12 months a year divides into 6

Why not have 100 seconds in a minute.
100 minutes in an hour
10 hours a day
10 days a week
the rest work out yourselves.

Just change the length of the seconds, minutes, hours etc. so they fit together metrically

Thanks for the good info 'tonalc1', interesting.

'goodisback2010' , time has been tinckered with throughout history because it doesnt add up correctly. There have been days added to months, etc.
Even to this day every year the clocks are out of sinc. with the planets. A few sceonds each day as i recall, thats why every 4 years we have a leap year, an extra day to re-syncronise the clocks.

The answer is just an arbitrary choice that goes back to the Greeks, the Sumerians, and the Babylonians, all of whom had arbitrary reasons for picking base-60 and base-24 systems. The only reason we do not change it so something like your system is that the measurement of time is even more hard-grained into our daily lives than distance, weight, or volume ... it's just too hard to change.

(Incidentally, our own choice of a base-10 system is also arbitrary ... the number of fingers on our hands. We could just as easily have chosen a base-8 or a base-16 system ... which would have been better for computers ... or we could have gone with the base-24 system. 10 was just an arbitrary choice.)

The big exception is the number of days in a year. This is NOT arbitrary, but based on a time relationship in nature. A day is one revolution of the earth, BY DEFINITION. and a year is one trip around the sun, BY DEFINITION. Based on these, it takes almost exactly 365.25 days (rotations) in a year (a trip around the sun). But so we don't end every year with a quarter-day, we just modify the definition of a year a tiny bit to say that it is 365 days a year, and then add a day every four years. The fact that the number of days in a leap year (366) is divisible by 6 is just pure coincidence.

Several theories. (and sorry for the bit of cut and paste) One is the ancient Sumerians, who counted by touching sections of their fingers with their thumbs (there are 12); they divided their days and nights into 12s, and called them hours.

They also counted in base 12, but that's another story.

The Babylonians (who had a base-60 form of counting and absorbed the Sumerian 12 base) divided the sky into the twelve signs of the Zodiac.

Hours did not have a fixed length until the Greeks decided they needed such a system for theoretical calculations. Hipparchus proposed dividing the day equally into 24 hours which came to be known as equinoctial hours (because they are based on 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on the days of the Equinoxes).

Ordinary people continued to use seasonally varying hours for a long time. Only with the advent of mechanical clocks in Europe in the 14th Century, did the system we use today become commonplace.

You've gotten the history of our present customary units and the reason for the year (earth revolution) and day (earth rotation). In science, we now have a very precise and unambiguous and absolute reference for the definition of the second (see reference). That single time unit is used for all scientific calculations in both metric systems, MKS and CGS. It no longer matters how fast the earth revolves or rotates (and that changes), or how accurately we can measure those.

ok, first, in simple terms decelerate. this may properly be elementary in case you in simple terms have a plan... eating is the hardest section. i'm also attempting to drop pounds and the eating section is not elementary, particularly because i'm youthful too and don't have a ton of money to spend on intense priced food. issues that paintings for me are: total grain bagels, turkey sandwiches, fiber one granola bars (fiber and protein are large because they maintain you from feeling hungry) transportable end result like seedless oranges, apples with peanut butter, and so on. The belongings you should stay faraway from are fries, cheese, ice cream, some thing with fairly some saturated fat. good fat are ok (almonds, lowfat cheese, avocado, olive oil). For dinner i will make a boneless skinless rooster breast, positioned some salsa on it, and eat some vegetables with it and probably some rice. once you're in the food market, some thing that asserts "South coastline nutrition plan" or "perfect existence" on it are large alternatives. eat small food and snack in the course of the day and eat some thing small once you're hungry. in case you wait too lengthy you'll finally end up eating some thing undesirable because your body truly needs energy because it thinks you're literally ravenous. also, once you're making a mistake and eat some thing undesirable (that you would possibly want to), do not get too disillusioned about it. in simple terms keep attempting to eat healthful. in case you commence in the present day, and keep on with a healthful plan you would possibly want to lose about 40 5 kilos through August, possibly extra searching on how a lot you weight immediately. Being 6 ft tall, you should weight between 100 and forty-100 and eighty kilos. bypass to the gym! it may help you sense extra perfect about your body because once you exercising, your body releases chemical compounds that make you sense good. you'll sense extra pleased with your body and see each and every of the great differences exercising is making. i for my section favor to bypass to a gym fairly of understanding at homestead because i think extra responsible with human beings there. i visit't in simple terms quit halfway through and do some thing else! in simple terms keep on with the above and also you'll be in large structure. once you're having extra options about ending your existence even with the actuality that, please communicate with an individual, like a figure or a counselor in college. Weight is a few thing it quite is changeable, and not in any respect some thing to end your existence over!

because then we wouldn't have things the way they are which is a way that actually works if you noticed this way has been working just fine since the beginning of time, in fact the standards that are the way they are now have been working since before man figured that time scale out, because it is the way it is, notice how with it this way we don't have to work it out for ourselves because we are left with a time scale and frame that you have given us that doesn't actually work in any way shape or form not trying to be rude or anything but you really didn't think this one out now did you?

I can only guess, changing length of second will prove a great misuse of the time itself !

It would be perfect and so much easier if we had done that. Who did invent time? Had to be the Romans , they invented the calendar. I'm sure they had some superstitious/religious connection they had to inflict when it was invented.

well you should ask that question to Nature, why she chose the number 6 and not 100, which we humans based as a 'convenient' number.
