The Daily Herald always runs a feature for your interest, but I don't know when.

The best local guide in general is Oaklee's Guide. You can pick up free copies in lots of places like the Roselle Library or the park district office. For a list go to their website. You can also peruse information on events at the website.

As for yard displays, the local TV stations always make the rounds and feature the best. Maybe they could tell you how to find a listing of great displays.

Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm in South Barrington is one of my family's favorite fall places to go. It doesn't cost anything to walk around and gawk. You can even bring your own picnic if you like. However, they do have lots of fun ways to spend a little money like pony and camel rides, a really nice exotic animal petting zoo, pig races, hayrack rides, corn maze, haunted house, and decent food. They have a large Halloween store and a huge produce and food market in the barn. Its located on Higgins Rd (Rt 72) west of Barrington Rd just after you cross over I-90.

I could tell you about lots of other places and events, but they're all in the guide. Some free, some cheap.
