I've been playing bass for years and have never run out of material to practice. Don't put something aside until you perfect it. Do you know all of your scales and arpeggios with alternate fingerings? You'll find you can develop a lot of fingering exercises from just the scales. How's your note reading and music theory? Improvising over chord changes? Improvising walking bass lines? Have you memorized enough tunes?

Check out a book, "Serious Electric Bass" by Joel DiBartolo. That should keep you occupied for a while. For reading practice, nothing beats classical etudes, especially from the Simandl books. Keep your eyes and ears open, you'll never run out of new stuff to learn.

Have a good look on some of the tab sites that are still active. They'll have your fave bands listed and most of them have bass tab sections.
Try these to start with:
www.guitartabs.cc
www.freshtabs.com
www.harmonycentral.com
Or just type in a search for bass tabs.
Alternatively, try working out the riffs on your favourite CDs: Great for improving your ear.

Play around with chord structures and harmonics, using the major note of the chord then minor notes to get a good sound, this will really help your playing and creativity.

I'm a keyboardist myself--whenever I run out of material, I just start making stuff up. A good way to do that is to start by playing something you know and have fun with and start messing around with it. Good luck!
