A car sitting un-used can cause problems, but I suspect that your battery cable ends and battery terminals are corroded from sitting. Have someone clean the battery cable ends, and battery terminals, jump start the car if needed, and let it run for awhile. If you have problems starting the car after that, have someone check out the charging system. It is a good idea to clean the entire top of the battery with a light sloution of baking soda and water to remove all the dirt and water. A dirty battery drains voltage from the top to ground. If you dont believe me, use a volt/ohm meter, with the neg. probe on ground, run the pos. probe on the top of the battery and observe the voltage reading. Anything over 100 mv means your battery needs to be cleaned. Baking soda and water neutralizes the battery acid on the top of the battery. Do not get it inside the battery water filler holes, or your battery is DONE! Most batteries are "sealed" to eliminate having to refill the electrolite, so it most likely will not be a problem.

It dies from sitting without being recharged. If you just start it a few times, that won't do it. You have to let it run for a while or better yet, drive it around to give the battery a good charge. Car batteries must be recharged or they eventually just die and can't be recharged.

lack of using can kill a battery but that one should have been ok. It was probly getting old so couldn't keep a charge. Weird story but I had a battery that was in my race car and sat for year and half. Well I needed a battery so I grabed it and put it in my 86 capri. Started up and been ok for 2 months now. I dont get it but what ever It works

Batteries simply drain out over a period of time. I would suggest you keep a trickl charger on it for the duration if storage (they are inexpensive and available at an auto parts store). If possible try to drive it once a month. After sitting for an extended period of time, let the car thoroughly warm up before driving it.

It sounds like there is a current drain somewhere in your system. Next time you park it disconnect the battery.

Yes. The battery will die from lack of use. Why is it sitting?
