I see a few people now and then who seem intelligent, but every so often I catch them staring off into space and their eyes go "dead", like there is nothing behind them, almost sociopathic and cold. Often there is a mona lisa kind of smile on the face and I only see this effect with blue eyes. Anyone else notice these kind of people around?

I must add that the "stare" has nothing to do with being tired but has more to do with some kind of mental disorder.

I have read somewhere that it is a mild form of epilepsy where the brain shuts down and you have a feeling of being immobilised physically and your mind drifts off just for a second or to..
like your in a trance like state, looking out and past people and things..

This is an interesting question, many people have different ways of looking at other people, and just staring off into a spaced out look, i dont believe it is a mental disorder many people do this...it's almost like they are going into a trance, and just blissfully staring off into the nothingness, there is a term for this, but i cant remember what it's called, a friend of mine does this sometimes, and they allways say, "oh i was just drifting" so maybe thats what it feels like, maybe it's a relaxing state to be in, sorry i couldn't give more info on this.

I've done that. Its usually when I'm kind of tired and I'm not really into listening to a conversation. Sometimes people actually have to shake me out of it. I'll get lost in staring at blank space and everything else just falls away for a moment....don't have blue eyes though

Yes I have. They have gargoylism. It is the behavior of being a gargoyle....motionless, staring out into space and seeing nothing.

They are Daydreaming. I call it; "Off in another World".
Heck, sometimes you can be talking to them and they look right at you, but, never hear a word you say.
