can you receive a miscarriage by not eating right, or would the baby be premature. Or does it matter how far along you are, and if so, how many months would be too much to misscarry..im not pregnant, just curious.

Your diet can affect the chance of a miscarriage but is limited to how poorly you eat.
Most miscarriages occur up to the 2nd trimester. After this date you might have bleeding and have to have an emergency birth or you might have a still born child.
Miscarriage is pregnancy loss that occurs before 20 weeks, before the fetus is able to survive outside the womb. Most miscarriages occur in the first trimester or 12 weeks of pregnancy. As many as 50 percent of all pregnancies may end in miscarriage, because many losses occur before a woman realizes she is pregnant.
Why do miscarriages occur?
The causes of miscarriage are not thoroughly understood. When a woman has a first-trimester miscarriage, her health care provider often cannot determine the cause. However, most miscarriages occur when a pregnancy is not developing normally. Usually, there is nothing a woman or her provider can do to prevent it.
Among factors known to cause first-trimester miscarriages, the most common is a chromosomal abnormality in the fetus.
Most chromosomal abnormalities result from a faulty egg or sperm cell.
If a cell has the wrong number of chromosomes, the embryo has a chromosomal abnormality and is usually miscarried.
Chromosomal abnormalities become more common with aging, and women over age 35 are at higher risk of miscarriage than younger women.
Other factors that can contribute to early miscarriage include hormonal problems, infections, and maternal health problems (such as poorly controlled diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, or thyroid disease. A recent study found that women with an infection called bacterial vaginosis were nine times more likely to have a miscarriage than uninfected women.
A mother’s lifestyle also may increase her risk of a first-trimester miscarriage. Studies suggest that women who drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or use illicit drugs may increase their risk.
One study also suggested that women who use pain-relieving medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen) and aspirin around the time of conception may also increase their risk of miscarriage.
Second-trimester miscarriage often is caused by problems with the uterus (such as an abnormally shaped uterus) or by a weakened cervix that dilates prematurely. As with first-trimester losses, maternal infections and chromosomal abnormalities can cause later miscarriages.
Factors that usually do not increase the risk of miscarriage include having sex, working outside the home (unless a woman works with harmful chemicals), and exercise.

Alot of things can cause miscarriage. Illness, if the mom is diabetic and doesn't manage her diabetes properly, high blood pressure, some infections, std's; problems with your uterus/and or cervix, tubal pregnancies etc, chromosomal abnormalities with the embryo. And then there are a person's lifestyle habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, consuming too much caffeine. I mentioned in an earlier question that I work with a girl who is 5 months pregnant, she still smokes, eats a lot of junk food, and drinks sodas filled with caffeine. She started going into premature labor the other day and had to be sent to the ER. Luckily she and the baby are okay right now, but she's still continuing those habits so who knows.

~~~there are many factors that can cause a miscarrage. It does not matter how far along you are,,,,if you are pregnant it is your responsibily to provide the best for your unborn child. You would do the same once your child is born,,,,,
Drugs, alcohol,,,poor diet,,,,an injury like a fall,,,,and most of the time mother nature tells your body that something is not right with your baby ,,,something that medical science wouldn't be able to fix,,,and you have a miscarriage. My suggestion is if you are thinking about becoming pregnant,,,make a consultation apt with an OBGYN,,,the Dr would be more than happy to sit and talk to about what you can do to have a healthy pregnancy,,,,,
I believe that you can only get an miscarriage when the fluids in your body aren't getting to your baby correctly. Or half the times the baby can be very premature and that can cause you to have a miscarriage. Well sometimes when you are far along from when the bay was supposed to be born you run out of fluid for your baby.
