No one was hurt, but he fled the scene and my tags were caught on camera. Should I get a lawyer, or do I turn my Avatar in?

No, he wasn't drinking. He says he was turning the station from talk radio to country, forgot where he was and attempted a line dance. That's when he ran a red light and hit a pole. He jumped out of the car and ran home embarrassed.

DON'T TOUCH A THING IN YOUR CAR. Dust for prints before doing anything. You could prove in court that it was your Avatar and not you driving the vehicle and for God's Sake, hide your keys and pick a new avatar quickly and run a back ground check on it before making a final commitment.

If it was your car, you need to call the police immediately. It's the right thing to do, of course, but their investigation won't take long to find you anyway. They'll be less pissed if you come forward than if they have to come to you.

Yes, get a lawyer.

if the car is in your name, and you're the owner of the car, you may be part of it somehow, but you wouldn't be held responisble for it.
