How old are you? I've been playing video games since they came out in the 70's. All of them heighten aggression and emotion. For a young child it may be too intense for their limited emotions to handle. That's why there are age ratings on the games today. Just like on movies that are not appropriate for someone young.
It's a complicated thing to explain the effects of violent games on young people.
It's a fact that more and more youth violence is just kids trying to do in real life what they do in video games.
Listen to your parents on this one.

They can be a distraction from your regular studies. They can be violent, most of the time. *Very* young children (12 and under) aren't advised to play them, but I think that people who are 13 years of age and above are old enough to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Of course, video games targeted at teens shouldn't contain graphic content.

There is an organisation that rates video and computer games. I don't remember the name, though. :(

Because the government and the media brainwash them to say so. Parents who have played video games and kids who understand the difference between virtual reality and reality know that it's truly ok. Just remember that it's a story.
