i hear these are not good matches for eachother, and they may not work out

They will work out absolutely beautifully, there is no reason they would not. People may have told you this because these boots and bindings offer different levels of support. The Freestyle boots are a bit softer and the P1's are a bit stiffer. Generally, people will try and match the support level of their boots and their bindings but that isn't a rule. What you have here is a happy medium. If, after a season riding you find that you would want a softer setup then all you would need to replace are the bindings. If you find you might want a stiffer setup, hook up new boots. And of course, you may love your setup as is. Either way, you've got a great set up. Have fun this winter

burton stuff should work together, but also other gear usually works out fine, no big deal in having everything from the same line, it's just more interesting for the company selling...
