Why does the E.T. ride at Orlando Universal Studio take down your name on entry?

I thought it may be for E.T. (or friends) to say our names during the ride, but I took the ride twice and didn't notice anything.

E.T does say the names taken you just have to listen carefully

I agree at the end of the ride et says your name, although sometimes the computer enters the names may not put it in order so don't blame et(lol) and the one in hollywood is gone now they do not have the et ride

At the end a little ET stands by you and says Goodbye to you and says your name. Very interactive. When my cousin and I were vacationing to Universal Studios Hollywood we gave him fake names. It was great, mine was Jameriquy and my cousin's was Cato. It was so funny hearing ET say "Bye Cato!"

because at the end of the ride one of the characters starts saying the names of people that go on the ride. your guess was right. they also do that in Hollywood.

i rode that ride and came to know that E.T. is the one!!

I wondered that myself at first, but at the end of the ride, he did say our names, although he butchered mine terribly. Sort of took the magic out of it for me (I was only twelve at the time), but, oh well.

I went to the ET ride in LA....they didn't do that when I went......I think it's cool..........
