i wish my parents thought of us when they were married and ended all the fighting sooner. sometimes staying together for the children isn't the best thing to do.

I knew that the courts are bias towards fathers and I stayed in a dysfunctional relationship far to long because of the my daughter. I finally came to the conclusion that it was better to have my daughter see me happier and provide a safe haven for her. I have a very positive GAL report and I am still trying to spend more time with her. My ex is very vindictive and would allow anyone else to watch my daughter even though I am available and close by but heaven forbid that I get one extra minute of parenting time. I know my daughter sees the differences hopefully she sees the positive things I do with her. I would hope that the courts will see that shared parenting plan would be the best thing for her and take the control away from the ex.

Of course I thought of my children, but I divorced to save my life. If the children had no mother, how much better off would they b? Now, I'm away from the abuse, my kids are doing well and my ex and I have a very cordial relationship for their sake.

Yes I did. When I divorced the kids were better off than staying with the two of us fighting all the time.

yes, I thought about my children. It was the best thing I ever did for them and for myself. My oldest is a COMPLETELY different kid now, even though she still has some lasting effects; my youngest was too young to remember what we went through, thank God.

My parents didn't.
And maybe that is why neither me or my brother speak to either parent now.
