The guy just lost his cool. It just so happened that when he did he seriously hurt someone. And as far as getting off light. No way is he getting off light. Think about it this way... a five game suspension in the NFL is the same as 25 games in the NBA, and 50 in the MLB. That is a big chunk of the season that the Titans will be without their starting DT. I'm not condoning what he did, just saying he accepted his punishment and even called the guy to apologize. Give the guy a break. We all lose our temper.

If you look back, he has had no previous problems like this. I think he's generally a good guy who made a mistake. you have to respect a guy who screws up, get a five game suspension and decides not to appeal. Instead he turns around and admits he screwed up and admits to being lucky the penalty wasn't more severe. The man does a lot good on and off the field, he just simply let his emotions get the best of him. If a man says he's embarrased his teammates and his family as well as tarnished his name and career can you really call him a thug? I don't think so.

The media overblew the extent of Gurode's injuries. He was back on the field this week and was just fine.

Also, the media insisted on calling Haynesworth's actions a "stomp". Anyone who saw the video knows that it was more like a glancing scrape - but of course w/metal cleats that does some damage.

Anyway, way overblown. 5 games and some anger management counseling is what the guy needs.

Good guy who let the heat of the moment get the best of him. It's frustrating losing all the time. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but it has to get to you. I think he handled the aftermath the right way, both by saying he was disgraced and by calling the player he hurt directly and apologizing.

he got off easy and he's a thug. he said it's not like him to do that but espn showed footage from training camp where he kicked a teammate in the head.
