They can call you until you actually file, and give them the case number.

You should be taking this up with your bankruptcy attorney, not online.

You can tell them that you have retained an attorney, and that he or she is the person to discuss this with, and give them the name and number. But they are not obligated to stop calling or writting you until you actually file.

If they call you after you file, you give them your attorney's name and the case number, and they have to stop calling. If they don't stop, tell your attorney, he will make them stop.

A creditor can still contact you even if you provide them with the lawyer's number. The harassment does not stop until you actually file the bankruptcy case, then the creditors are barred by federal law from contacting you. However, most attys. advise to give out a number upon referral to put the creditor on notice to stop or at least slow down the collection attempts.

Creditors can still continue to contact you to try to collect on the debt until the case is actually filed. They do have to stop calling you on the phone if you tell them to stop calling, but they are free to continue sending dunning letters through the mail.

not sure, check with your lawyer. i think until it goes through the courts they can still call. but there are laws that govern WHEN and how they call too. i think they cannot call after 7 pm or before 8 pm. but you've got to check on this. you can report THEM too, ya know.
good luck.

If you write to them and tell them to only correspond with you in writing, they're obligated to stop calling you.
