Don't know about the quickest as all manufacturers suggest that it is left switched off over night. If you stand it on lots and lots of layers of newspapers that absorbs all the water. The fun part is you get to have a party. I had a "defrosting party" - invited all my friends round and cooked and ate EVERYTHING in the freezer. Fab night with some really strange food combinations. People are still laughing about it months later!

Ether a hair drier or a hot water in a container on the shelf above the freezer floor, so as you can put in a larger tray to catch the water. If using a hair drier keep it far enough away that water doesn't get near it or else it might go BANG.a small steamer works to but adds to the amount of water falling The choice is yours. But make sure you unplug the freezer first.

I have a freezer in a room outside. I just pull it out into the sun and open the door. In the winter I use a hair dryer and a pick.

switch off, wrap contents in newspaer and store in cardboard box for a couple hours. Place a bowl of boiling water inside, close the door and leave for 30 mins, if any ice remains you could try using a hairdryer on it.

Empty the contents into another freezer, or insulating bags.
Switch off.
Thaw out using a portable electric blower.
Dry out and use a light disinfectant.
Power up.
Re-stock.
