JANET_M, you need cheap purple curtians [sic] owing to low income (not due to low income) - it's an indirect cause and effect. There is nothing that directly links your low income to your need to have curtains (regardless of whether they are cheap or purple). Just think of due to as "caused by", and owing to as "because of". I hope this helps with your continued use of the English language.
Now as to the crux of your question, you asked for a cheap shop. I would suggest Knightingales as reasonably priced - it's a chain, so there should be a branch near you.
The really cheap suggestions will involve you in a lot of trial and error, involving much time and patience. You may also need to buy purple dye, because your need to have a specific colour will reduce your chances of success. These really cheap suggestions include:
1) charity shops
2) jumble sales
3) off cuts from factories (and even clothing sweatshops)
4) checking skips, especially in well-off areas (*)
* I knew a skinflint who furnished his flat from trawling round areas like Hampstead and Highgate - seriously! Mind you he also entertained visitors wth homemade wine poured from milk bottles, so it wasn't all good.

Look for bed sheets at a discount retailer or sale.
They have rod pockets already ( using the wide hems) and you can cut them the widths that you need.
You would still have to hem one edge on each panel, but you can do that with glue or fusible webbing.
Or, you could dye white sheets.
Just check the size of your windows against the dimensions of the sheets. A King or Queen sized sheet could be all that you need.

Go to a fabric outlet if you have one and buy the fabric. Measure how many yards you need plus 6 inches extra for each panel (to fold over for hem and curtain rod. At a fabric outlet you can get lots of discounted fabric for very little money.

find your local charity or second hand shops, they are always good for curtains and don't forget you can buy dye to put in your washing machine to change the colour of them.
